Leadwoman – Silver Rush 50 (7/7/19) (2nd/5 events)

It was the girl’s first trip to Colorado and they couldn’t wait to get there.  We stayed in Salida.  I really liked this decision because it was south of Leadville.  It wasn’t as far of a drive compared to where I was scheduled to stay the following month.  We overnighted in Amarillo at the same place we’d stayed for Memorial Day weekend and made it for the Salida 4th of July parade and...

Leadwoman – July 2019

In July, I ran ~161 miles and rode ~423 miles.  This is the month things really started to fall apart in my personal and work life. I was no longer useful at home.  I was brain dead all the time.  I was forgetful.  I was sooooo tired.  I was going to bed at 8:30 right after I put the girls down.  LP and I never saw each other because...

Leadwoman – turned 40 and lost my dad

Back to 2016…my dad had landed in the hospital for a surgery in Houston that just didn’t go as planned.  He really never recovered.  Over the next 3 years, he became sicker and eventually passed away in December of 2018. I can remember when he was in the hospital in 2016 talking about my training for Leadville.  I don’t know if he ever quite understood why I did what I did.  But, he was...

Top 10 Thanksgiving Survival Tips

Top 10 Thanksgiving Survival Tips 1)      Eat breakfast.  If you skip breakfast on a holiday you can bet you’ll indulge WAY too much.  Don’t save the calories for the meal because you’re still going to eat more than normal. 2)      Exercise in the morning.  It makes you feel good about yourself and controls appetite!  Do a Turkey Trot or walk around the neighborhood.  My favorite think...
