Processed Nation – Wendy’s and hot dog don’t have mold yet!

After I thought about all the food I said I would purchase on my Processed Nation Blog, I decided to reevaluate the situation.  All it took was thinking about all the bugs all that food would attract in my house.  I HATE bugs, especially roaches.

Instead, I waited until a presentation I was doing on 11/29 to Instinct Volleyball club about fueling for optimal performance.  We bought all kinds of food to show the players and their families what they shouldn’t be eating before practice and at tournaments.

After the night was over, I kept the Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato and a hot dog with chili from a convenience store.

Here’s what they looked like on day 1:

Here’s what they looked like yesterday (2 weeks later.)

Bread is still white, no mold whatsoever.  The lettuce and tomato are a little wilted but they’re not even moldy yet!  I think we all knew nothing would happen to the chicken sandwich.  Wondering what I should buy next since even the bugs don’t seem to want it. J  I continue to choose not to eat this stuff, will you or do you just not care?

  1. I sure don’t eat that kind of stuff. Trying to get the husband to understand how horrible it is. And it’s not just drive thru stuff. Read the labels on your store bought food. Do you know what all that stuff is?

  2. IT did not mold because it could dehydrate just fine and it’s moisture that causes food to mold. It has nothing to do with processing. As much as I don’t care for fast food any more it’s time to stop spreading this nonsense! Thanks for the info Greg. Part of this project will also show that the food we cook at home would do the same thing. Just haven’t gotten that far yet.

However, working in school foodservice and foodservice industry in general, I know the ingredients on a lot of the foods that were served in schools and in restaurants 8 years ago. I know it hasn’t changed much.

This is just to get people thinking about what they’re putting in their bodies period.
