After a week long pity party, I’m over it and back to my running life. After last Tuesday’s track workout (which kicked my butt by the way), I haven’t touched the running shoes. In fact, the only exercise I’ve done in one week’s time is Wii Bowling and Tennis and Dance, Dance Revolution. I even went as far as telling saying, “I’m through with running!” I take it back…I take it all back!
It was a rough week. Lots of late nights and I was EXTREMELY tired. Triathlon coach, Tim Tarpley says White Rock is just catching up with me. I never quit running after White Rock. The plan was to just keep going and run Cowtown AND Big D Marathons. I know this is possible if I just want to finish, but for those of you that know me, there’s a bigger goal.
This brings me to my points:
1) Sometimes we have to take breaks from intense exercise and do the things we love! If you’re on a sabbatical from exercise whether it’s been a week, month or year, get up and move!
2) You can’t expect to get faster or better if you’re not doing EVERYTHING to get there: nutrition (you notice I put that first J), training, and rest.
3) Other that the workouts that I just flat didn’t want to do, the small parts of nutrition that start falling off that truly effect performance and overall energy levels are: not snacking when you’re supposed to, not cooking at home and just grabbing something quick like a grilled cheese, not drinking as much water when you’re busy. These are just a few but cause big problems!
Back to Luke’s I go on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The plan has changed and I’m okay with it. Cowtown ½ and Big D Full!
