For Ragnar, I was going to run 4 legs (because we had one runner drop) between 4-7 miles each. My legs were going to be around 1 p.m., 9 p.m., 4 a.m. and 11 a.m. I needed to get my butt in gear. So, I joined FWRUNCO’s Cowtown marathon training with Tamara Ogle and Gary Anderson heading it up. I started with coach Jack in the 10-10:30 pace group and met a great group of new friends and some old ones.
The sign up for Leadwoman was around the corner. All of these parts led up to now. I off-handed mentioned to LP that if I was going to do Leadville again, I needed to do it soon because kids activities are starting to get hot and heavy. In a few more years, I would never have the time to train for it and keep my sanity (which I’m not convinced I kept anyways).
The thing about Leadville MTB, as mentioned before, it’s a lottery. Even if I signed up, I wasn’t guaranteed to get in. There were only a few ways that you could be sure you got in. One was signing up for Leadwoman. This was lingering in the back of my mind all year. So much so, I had my first real training ride with Eugene on 11/9. I rode 26 miles that day. I mentioned to him I was thinking about Leadville again since he had trained a lot with me the last time. But….the only way I could see getting in was signing up for Leadwoman. He was all for me doing it again. I wasn’t worried about being able to finish all of the events. I was worried about how much time it was going to take me to train for them.
